SPG Market Update - Spring 2017

Market Update: Dow Passes All Time High of 21,000!

Wow! What a year this has been so far! It was just over a month ago, on January 25th, that we hit 20,000 on the Dow. Here we are, yet again, happily informing you that we are now above 21,000.

There is more good news: there is ample evidence that this growth is not just bluster and hype. It is based on real economic growth and policy change. Wall Street investors are hearing exactly what they need to hear about forward policy. President Trump is pursuing and implementing a policy of reducing obstructive regulations, lowering taxation for businesses, and repatriating trillions of dollars to the U.S. from overseas. Economically speaking, these policies could be a silver bullet to a shy market and will likely produce sustained and very real growth.

Some of our clients have expressed concern that the market has gone too high too fast. We certainly understand this concern. We would point out two important factors: 1. We are using a long-term disciplined investment approach. 2. The recent gains in the markets are based on policy changes and real economic improvement, not hype.

Warren Buffett, founder of Berkshire Hathaway, said on Monday "We are not in bubble territory or anything of the sort… measured against interest rates, stocks are actually on the cheap side."

We here at Strategic Planning Group remain very optimistic going into 2017. Remember, we follow a set of market principles that are shown to succeed through all economic situations. With our management over your investments, we diversify to strike the best possible balance between the gains of the growing market and protection against a downturn.

We would like to say how grateful and honored we are to be able to work with such amazing clients, and to help you pursue your ideal retirement.

Relax! Don't buy into the fear mongering. Enjoy the growing market and your growing portfolio.

Sincerely,

All of us at Strategic Planning Group
